No two students have exactly the same skills or learning style. That’s why we create an individual learning plan for every child. Your plan will combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one tutoring in a way that works for your student.

​Madison Area Educational Special Services Unit

We have a close relationship with the Indiana Department of Mental Health and have two state hospitals that are fully participating members of our Special Education Cooperative.

The four-county service area serves approximately 20 schools.

Our mission is to ensure that each student has the opportunity to develop skills that will enable him/her to reach his/her potential and pursue further goals in education, independent living, and personal growth.

We serve five school corporations, in four counties, which are also a member of the cooperative.  They provide space in their regular school buildings in which SSU staff members perform a variety of services including testing, counseling, therapy, and resource room teaching.
